WHO WE ARE Hualang International Academy (HIA) is the international division of Shenzhen Hualang School which itself is an independent non-profit boarding school established in 2021 in Pingshan district in the vibrant city of Shenzhen. HIA follows progressive approach to learning and a blend of internationally recognized frameworks that foster student centred and enquiry-based learning. Most of our students begin with a two-year International General Certificate Secondary Education – more commonly known as IGCSE – and complete a further two years General Certificate of Education Advanced Levels (AS and A Levels) before enrolling in local and international universities. Classrooms are well equipped with excellent audio-visual resources. Internally, HIA focuses on building a diverse team of knowledgeable, experienced, and cooperative faculty with a holistic, rigorous and inspiring approach to teaching. As a standard setting school of choice for the local community, we seek qualified, talented, passionate and dedicated teachers across all departments who will join our team to ensure that our students lead remarkable lives. Our planned expansion for the academic year 2023-2024 means we are currently accepting applications for IGCSE and/or A Levels teaching positions for: Art and Design, History and Geography, Chemistry, Global Perspectives, Sociology, Physics (tentative) and Further Mathematics (tentative). The successful candidate will: ? be well qualified to degree level or above in a relevant discipline; ? possess PGCE/QTS or equivalent formal teaching qualification; ? have a high level of academic expertise, with ability to prepare students in their subject for highly competitive university destinations and courses; ? have excellent teaching track record with proven success in preparing students for external examinations; ? demonstrate passion for their subject and a genuine interest in educational research and practice; ? have experience of delivering IGCSE and A-level curricula (highly desirable). Main responsibilities ? To plan and prepare interesting and engaging IGCSE/A Levels lessons. ? To maintain an orderly, positive, and purposeful classroom atmosphere. ? To ensure that the needs of all learners in their classes are met. ? To assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of pupils effectively, accurately and positively within the framework of department and school policy. ? To help foster pupils’ critical thinking and independent learning skills. ? To prepare pupils for internal and external examinations. ? To participate in ongoing appraisal and be committed to continuous professional self-reflection and ongoing professional development. ? Carry out duties and responsibilities as determined by the principal. The ideal candidate will have a flexible, creative approach to their subject, looking to support students’ academic aims and to develop the provision across the academy. Academic staff are likely to have tutoring responsibilities and will be expected to contribute to the wider life of the academy through clubs, activities and evening supervision duties (about once every 5-6 weeks).
